Krasnyfilm DVDs are designed for 'A' level, Scottish Higher, or beginnning undergraduate philosophy. They are also useful for teaching specific philosophical elements of Religious Studies.
Each story is based around the activities of a (fictional) philosophical cult or sect - where people have become so convinced by a philosophical theory that they try to make it into a code to live by. Traditional philosophical arguments soon surface as these cults seek to justify their actions, to make converts, or resist outsiders.
The films contain a considerable amount of academic detail - the unfamilar context from which the philosophical ideas emerge encourages thought about the ideas themselves, especially about what follows if these ideas are actually true.
For synopses and specific educational applications see the pages on the left about each film and also Teachers' Notes.
"To describe [Krasnyfilm productions] as educational films about philosophy would be accurate, but would hardly do them justice. Each is a drama of around thirty minutes, exploring a key issue such as subjectivity, moral relativism and free will."
Julian Baggini The Philosophers' Magazine Issue 38 2007
